James Edwin Sharp was born on June 4, 1934 in Valeria, Iowa. Jim passed away peacefully on January 4, 2012 in Newberg, OR.
He moved to Oregon in 1947 and attended school at Roosevelt High School in Portland. He served 2 years in the Army, returning to the Portland area to work as a truck driver for Knight Trucking and Georgia Pacific. In 1961 he married Velma Golden in Beaverton, where they made their home until moving to Newberg in 1977.
After retiring from Georgia Pacific in 1987, Jim enjoyed working with machinery and farming. He had a great passion for restoring trucks, farming and fishing in Pacific City. His first love was his wife and family of 3 children and 6 grandchildren. He was loved by everyone he met and was a true legend in his own time.
He is survived by his wife, Velma Sharp, his son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Lisa Sharp, his daughter and son- in-law Debbie and Doug Jorgensen, and his daughter and son-in-law, Jenna and Stuart Brown, and 6 grandchildren, all from Newberg.
A celebration of his life will be held on Friday, January 20, 2012 at 3:00. Northside Community Church, 1800 Hoskins Street, Newberg, OR.
